Breaking the Lens, 2022
I co-directed and costume designed this production with Eleanor Nielsen for the Women in Horror Collective, a group of feminist theatre artists. This production spanned over 2 years from conception to showcase and was created as a response to female characters and tropes in horror films. With a focus on interactive design and costume driven storytelling, Breaking the Lens received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and was performed as the only emerging artist production at the International World Stage Design Festival in 2022 and later at the Halifax Fringe Festival. The costumes involved a collaborative design and creation, and functioned as wearable art with extensive fabric manipulation, corsetry, quick-changing, sculpture, and heavy embellishments. I worked on designing, cutting, and stitching the costumes to merge with Eleanor Nielsen's extraordinary masks.
